8 eCommerce predictions for 2016

Last week, experts from the eCommerce Expo in London kindly answered to my questions and gave me some precious eCommerce tips. You can find their interviews here: 8 #eCommerce tips from the London eCommerce Expo. In today’s post we continue our investigation with the second question I asked them: How do you see 2016 in terms of opportunities and challenges for the eCommerce sector? I can tell you right now that mobile will definitely be at the heart of the eCommerce next year but you have also lots of other things to look at to succeed in 2016! eCommerce developoment http://www.tmogroup.asia/

ecommerce predictions for 2016

Twenga Solutions

Herbert Knibiehly, VP Marketing at Twenga Solutions.

“Alright so 2016 is becoming more and more complicated especially concerning the marketing part because there are more channels to master than before. There is the search marketing with AdWords and Google Shopping that are still important and by the way Google Shopping is increasingly indispensable. There is also the rise of social media with the “like” button on Facebook or Instagram. It is also being developed on Twitter so it will probably be available pretty soon, adding a new channel to master to drive more traffic. Then, the other thing is, in 2016 it will be important to understand how people browse between the off-line and on-line so we often talk about omni-channel but it is becoming really important for the one that have also brick-and-mortars. It is also going to be a way to optimize the costs and the relationship with the users accross different channels.”

BugFinders

Jonathan Gamble, Solutions Director at BugFinders

“Well figures tell us that spendings are increasing dramatically so I think the big challenge really will be to deliver to the door step, to have a quick and efficient customer service. When you have big traffic, big sales, black fridays, you have to know how to manage customers relationship and to make sure that they can buy on your website. ”

Klarna

Victoria Watmough, UK Partner Manager at Klarna

“Wow, I think that retailers are doing well on getting customers on to mobile but there is a challenge on getting them to buy on mobile. I think this is something they need to look at to really make the customer want to buy, feel safe and make a purchase easily on a smartphone or even on an iPad.“

The Chat Shop

Jonny Everett, Director of Customer Development and Co-founder of The Chat Shop

“I think the biggest challenge for pretty much everyone is going to be mobile. I still didn’t see anyone doing it very well and specifically mobile payments. I also think that consumers’ patience continues to decrease in terms of purchasing process, I think it will start to heart retailers more and more. So I would say to summarize, probably mobile and basically the optimization of the website to be more competitive so whatever was hard last year, will be harder this year. ”

Luckycycle

Nicolas Coppée, co-founder of Luckycycle

“So 2016 I see it positively! We feel like there is a rise in the economy because there are always more online sales, more mobile transactions. The eCommerce sector compared to the rest of the economy is doing well. The sector will still be innovative.”

Genie Goals

Luca Senatore, Strategy Director at Genie Goals

“I think it will be mobile for the major part and I think attribution will come second because I don’t see retailers stopping doing things like social, TV and displaying video. But at the same time I think they will begin to want a better science of what is doing what at the final.”

TrustedShops

Craig Clarke, Sales executive UK at Trusted Shops

“I see a push towards the trust elements, making sure that actually there is something in place to make sure that you are secure and safe.”

HypaShip

Sean McDermott, marketing executive at HypaShip

“I think click-and-collect will be definitely the main challenge, I think we will also see lots of different delivery options as well so things like time delivery will be a lot cheaper.”

Thanks a lot to all the experts I met at the eCommerce Expo and who gave me a bit of their time for the interview. We got here some great eCommerce predictions for 2016 so now it’s time for you to get prepared for the new year coming! Other interviews are coming soon on our eCommerce blog so stay tuned!
